MJ and I were super excited to attend the launch party, Welcome to the Klub Haus at Lotus Lounge in Connecticut on December 13th. We were greeted by young ladies in custom SRK T-shirts, MJ received a VIP bracelet and a handful of glow sticks and bracelets. The Lounge was lit by pink lighting and stylish kids couldn’t wait to eat treats, look through their gift bags or decided if they wanted a kid safe tattoo or quirky face paint design.

Lots of pizza arrived around 4 pm and kids were invited to take fun paparazzi style pictures afterwards. Attendees were invited to the dance floor to show off the latest dance crazes from Hit the Quan, the Dlow Shuffle, Dab and I even enjoyed watching the Whip and Nae Nae because so many toddlers joined in on the fun.
Shaina was the best hostess, greeting every single guest, posing for photos, dancing with the kids making sure everyone was having fun. She happily passed me a large swag bag with a custom black sweat shirt and black and gold embroidered beanie.

Kid DJ Bam Bam played the latest dance hits that kept mom and kids happy and rocking! Two lucky ladies Autumn, 11 and Chloe age 7 celebrated their birthdays in a vip section with their friends.

I met Devyn Tyson nearly 3 years ago while she was hosting a fashion show in Brooklyn. I went backstage and had to meet the talented young lady. Fast forward to 2015 Devyn, age 13, is attending high school, has graced the stage at the Apollo, created amazing original songs and performed for thousands of fans in her home town New York City, New Jersey, Grenada, and Trinidad.

The show opened to a full house, Devyn burst onto the stage with a DJ, live musicians, a background vocalist and a group of young dancers adorned in navy blue outfits. These young dancers completed so many flawless transitions its hard to believe they are all still in high school. Devyn began the concert with rap covers to top hits such as Fetty Wap’s My Way and The Weeknd’s R&B song Earned It. Devyn appeared poised, polished and professional as she engaged the excited audience with a bright smile, amazing vocals and chic long sleeve white and black romper with combat boots.

There was a brief fashion presentation by 16 year old Imani Parker, who had teen models rocking a few items from her juniors fashion line Unparalleled by Imani. The line featured mixed textures and prints, such as denim with african prints on a romper. My favorite piece a bright orange and hot pink leopard crop top.
The second half of the show featured 3 upcoming Soca artists, Mani D Gift, Jilani and Kimani the Big Show. All three guys had the audience on their feet as they performed various original Soca songs. A few audience members even waved whites flags as they were digging the island vibes. The highlight of the show was the closing, Devyn acknowledged her team with a song that she wrote at age 8. Her entire crew joined her on the stage as she thanked them for working with her. Tears flowed as Dev embraced her mother Natasha in a warm hug.
The show ended with song called Jump Up in The Islands and a young stilt walker parading through the aisles. It was a truly entertaining experience and I know Devyn will continue to wow music lovers as she advances in her career as an entertainer.

I can’t believe it’s Golden Magazine’s 5th fashion show for a cause! This year the event was held in midtown at the beautiful Affinia Hotel. The fashion show raised awareness for Lupus with benefits going towards the Lupus Foundation of America.
In the lobby guests could have fun in the photo booth with Dash photos or shop for items from Britt&Boo NY.
I adored getting a Golden stamps on my hand as I entered the main ballroom to sit with the other photographers and bloggers.
11 year old Dj Fussy Man from Staten Island played the latest hits to keep the crowd excited including every kids favorite “Watch me Whip” by Silento. Later in the show he came down the runway on a Skywalker!
The show was opened by 5 year old dancer Heaven King (remember her from the Ellen Show?) and model/Actor Rory Anthony.

Tween performer little Kayci Blu rocked a Pink sequin custom jersey. The young rapper/singer got crowd pumped with three songs my favorite one “work hard play hard” had the crowd dancing.
Andy and Evan was a part of the first segment. Cute toddlers in dressy garments such as Blazers, skirts sets, sweaters layered over button downs strolled down the runway.

A few of my favorite looks include a bold Yellow circle skirt from Mar Mar Copenhagen and gorgeous Oil and Water rain coats.

Major brands Guess by Maricano and Sean John also participated in this years show. Models wearing outfits from both collections looked New York chic in black and grey knit items.

Danni Lynn age 10 dancer gymnast also performed for the audience who was amazed by her graceful movements.
Models and a few lucky guests were treated to gift bags from Curly Kids Hair Care. For more information visit www.thegoldenmag.com
New location, new Brands and New Balances, this seasons show was at Spring Studios in New York City on Saturday, October 17th. petitePARADE is a bi-annual children’s fashion show in New York and Miami.
Students from Parsons School of Design showcased their children’s wear collections. The audience was presented with spring collections from diverse brands such as Marin+Morgan, Olvi’s, Laer*,Little Miss Matched, and Jessica Simpson girls collection. I arrived in time for the Jessica Simpson show. The collection featured soft pastels, peasant tops and washed denim. The swim wear was in bold colors like hot pink and range from cut out one-pieces to full sun coverage suits with zippered sleeves. All the models had feathers adorned in their hair as they strutted down the runway to Yellow Submarine by the Beatles.
New Balance after party hosted by CirKiz! Started off with an awesome performance by dance crew Waffle NYC and then they invited the kids to party on the runway with tunes by 9 year old DJ Alden.
In the crowd, celebrities, stylists, reality stars, mommy moguls, bloggers and mini fashionistas. Spotted in the crowd that afternoon celebrity stylist June Ambrose, Addison Riecke from Nickelodeon’s hit show The Thunderman’s, reality star Traci Dimarco and her cute baby girl Skylar. MJ met 5 year old Luke Burns who was featured in Pharrell’s Happy video. I thought the show this year was very exciting and fun with more activities for kids to do such as photobooth and the dance party.

I can’t believe how long it’s been since the last post! 6 months! A lot has happened since then, MJ graduated kindergarten and I ended up teaching at a new school. We took our first international family vacation to Vancouver to visit my sister and brother-in-law. I still kept up with the latest news in the kids fashion industry and events but it seemed so much easier to keep FKN fans updated on Instagram and Twitter. The biggest challenge has been obtaining the http://www.freshkidnation.com website. It was purchased in an auction due to a renewal lapse. The person who obtained the .com address quoted my a 1000K asking price!
I am working on relaunching the site, that means new stories about new kids brands, celebrity kids fashion and stories about cool kids and their parents! This weekend is petitePARADE and next weekend expect stories from Golden Magazine’s fashion show. I am looking to showcase upcoming labels and continue working with other children’s brands. Thank you for continuing to support this kids style blog.
