2015 8th edition of petitePARADE in NYC

Despite the chilly temperature in NY last weekend, tots, bloggers and stylists braved the cold to attend the biannual petiteParade at Bathhouse Studios. Brands at the show were Anais & I, Imoga, Dillonger, Biscotti and Katie Mack, and Bonnie Young. I enjoyed the wonderful textures and color pallete of Aria’s girls collection. It was reminiscent of the late 1950’s era with a modern day edge, soft circle skirts and lots of tulle.

Boys brand Dillonger returned this year showcasing a cohesive collection of deep red and black accented sportswear. Imoga girls collection featured navy florals and plaids dresses accented with bronze metallic fabric. Popular 5 year old model Harper Tillman looked quite sophisticated in a Floral belted trench with faux fur collar.

One of my favorite brands Bonnie Young stunned the audience with their unique use of color and textures for girls. I adored the tween fashion ensembles, black on black textured outfits, faux fur vests, and lots of layers and metallics. Navy and black are colors you don’t normally see in the tween fashion color pallete, but the models didn’t look goth rather chich and edgy in asymmetrical hemlines.

I had a blast mingling with other bloggers, momtrepreneurs and designers. This years show was fast paced and set in ine day which gave me the opportunity to check out ENK as well as Playtime which takes place the same weekend at petitePARADE.

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats share photos of Genesis Ali Dean

Singer Alicia Keys and her music producer husband Swizz Beats both shared amazing famy photos on their Instagram accounts yesterday. The black and white photos featured their two-month old daughter Genesis Ali Dean who was born on December 27th 2014. Baby Genesis is photo with her two big brothers 7 year old Kaseem and 4 year old Egypt.

Guess my famous mom?

In this month’s Teen Vouge, 13 year old Kaia Gerber appears inside. If you thinks she looks a bit like Cindy Crawford, your right! Kaia’s mom is super model Cindy Crawford and her dad Rande Gerber also modeled before he became a successful businessman. Kaia has previously appeared in a Versace campaign in 2012.

Recap of Isossy Children’s “NY-LON” Tea Party

I was so excited to visit The Harlem Haberdashery this past weekend for Isossy Children’s “NY-LON” Tea Party. The event attracted mommy bloggers,kid moguls, designers and buyers. Amanda Rabor, the creator of Isossy reached out and asked MJ to wear a playsuit during the event. A majority of the tiny attendees wore beautiful Isossy suits and dresses. Lizpia designs provided bright accessories for the models. Mj spent the afternoon making new friends, dancing eating yummy cupcakes from tres chic cupcakes. I had the opportunity to catch up with Amanda, Denise and their family as well as fellow bloggers and business owners.

What attracts shoppers to Isossy clothing is the unique fabrics and high quality craftsman ship. Sequins, tulle, linen paired with bold embroidered African or Asian prints are rarely seen in children’s wear. This mash up of textiles leaves shoppers amazed and buyers happy with such impactful pieces. Here are a few pics I snapped. Be prepared for tons of cuteness!

Whoa! petite PARADE in NYC & Miami

This year there were two locations for kids fashion shows, in NYC on October 18 and 19th and in Miami October 25 and 26th. Collections shown over the weekend were

Chloe, Alivia Simone, Parson New School for Design students, Imoga, Oil & Water, Anasai, RUUM, Clarks, Dillonger, Aria Children’s Clothing and Bonnie Young.

Some highlights include a rollerskating model and a loveable pup working the runway. I loved Dillonger ‘s boy collection. I heard about the brand last summer when famed Producer Swizz Beats shared a photo on Instagram of jogging pants from the new collection. There were trendy activewear pieces accented with faux leather or quilting.

Each girl’s collection was stunning. I enjoyed Aria’s collection, which is handmade in the U.S. had such lovely ‘yummy’ prints. Handburger’s and fruit covered bold dresses adorned the young models.

Ruum 2014 Holiday Collections

Ruum (It’s pronounced ROOM) is an American children apparel company based in New York City. There is a variety of hip and chic clothing options for both boys and girls. When I visited the new Madison Ave. store 2 weeks ago, I was delighted to find such cool and comfortable clothing at astonishing affordable prices. What really tickled my fancy was the boutique style store was kid-friendly. Yes you can park your stroller and kiddes in the middle of the store and go browsing. There is even couches where my little MJ can sit and play on his Ipad with his dad. I couldn’t resist taking a wacky photo at the in store photo booth.

“RUUM celebrates and inspires boys and girls, ages 2-14, to get excited and engaged about expressing themselves through their clothing. Our collection is age-appropriate, with runway style and fashion forward designs offered in toddler clothing up to tween. Celebrating and inspiring boys and girls around the world to feel their best while making their own unique fashion statement,”

There is also a new store in Tribeca at 138 West Broadway in NYC.

Ruum just released it’s Holiday/Winter collection on October 15th. Some trends include faux fur, plaid, soft knits and tailored pieces. I own a grey and rich purple argyle sweater that I plan on pairing with dark gray denim for MJ. I can even add a white collar shirt and black bowtie to jazz up the ensemble.

The press release states the Boys Highland collection is inspired by Scotland. Many of the tailored or knit items are perfect for layering in The Jet Set Collection.

The girls collection, Ice Princess, features sparkly accents and embellished pieces. The dresses are so well made, they look and feel like they cost hundreds of dollars! I just adore winter white, hopefully your daughter won’t stain any of these pieces. You can also layer the vest with soft tee shirts.

Malala, the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner

17 year old activist and advocate, Malala Yousafzai is the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. She survived 3 gunshots wounds to her head by the Taliban in 2012 as she was getting on a bus in Pakistan. Malala has been actively campaigning for educational rights of girls since she was 11 years old. She has also received numerous awards including the Nation Youth Peace Prize, the Mother Theresa Memorial Award for Social Justice, and the Harvard Foundation’s Peter Gomes Humanitarian Award.
Malala shares the award with Kailash Satyarthi, an Indian child rights activist, he started the Save the Childhood Movement, an organization which campaigns for child rights and an end to human trafficking.

Meet Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky!

Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton and her husband Marc Mezvinsky celebrate the arrival of their daughter Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky born Friday September 26th. Bill and Hillary Clinton are overjoyed about their first grandchild. Mrs. Clinton tweeted “@Billclinton and I are over the moon to be grandparents! One of the happiest moments of our lives.”

Kids Rock Fashion Show 2014 NYFW

Cute kids ripped the runway during New York City’s 2015 Spring/Summer Fashion Week. On Monday night, September 8th, celebrity mom and dads cheered on their kiddos at Terminal 23. The event was presented by NY Yankee Derek Jeter’s non-profit Turn 2 Foundation and Haddad Brands.

Attendees were Derek Jeter, J.R. Smith, LaLa and Carmelo Anthony,CC and Amber Sabathia, and Angie Martinez.

Jacquie Lee from The Voice opened the show, singing her hit song, Tears Fall.

The pint sized models wore sportswear outfits from Levi’s, Converse, Nike, Jordan, and Hurley. Some of my favorite outfits were a long sleeved cinched waist denim jumper from Levi’s, bright printed Nike leggings, and the all Jordan white track suits the boys wore.
