Dezo Empire is a children’s apparel line that offers hip t-shirts and apparel that is unique and stylish. The designers Carol and Julio are a couple who wanted to outfit their kids in fresh tees but didn’t find many options. The duo decided to create a clothing line featured NYC inspired graffiti art.

Why did you choose to design for children?

Kids are the trendsetters of the world!  When we had kids, we saw the lack in originality in most clothes, but mostly tees, because we feel like tees are an expression of your individual style.

So with my husband’s background in graffiti and growing up in NYC, we decided to design and create  a custom line of tees for kids that most adults would wear themselves.

How is your label different from the other childrens brand already on the market?

It’s not just about the fresh, hip tees and the mostly hand drawn designs.  It’s about the message we want to tattoo in peoples mind behind the brand.  Our mission is to support and empower ALL kids to be themselves and express their style in any way they feel moved.  We are all one kind and that is “Huemand Kind(a perfect blend of colors),and we believe in teaching kids that we are all one people in this world.  Spreading love, is key to molding future leaders in our children.  After all, we are all brothers in sisters!

“We Gots to Love”.

Where do you get your ideas from and what or who inspires you as a designer?

NYC, memories from our youth, urban art form, street culture and favorite songs are what we like to use as inspiration.  Growing up in NYC, Keith Harring was my favorite artist.
