So many events, so little time…my feet are dying!!! I dragged my 4 year old toddler along who kept shouting “I’m going to the fashion show!” to the Isossy Children meet & greet in Brooklyn. Denise & Amanda were so awesome we stayed late and missed the Spring/Summer 2013 Target show at Industria Studios, (The lovely folks from petite Parade PR office has sent us images for your viewing pleasure! )so we went to the highline and Chelsea Market. The Call starring Oscar winner Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin was premiered at ArcLight Cinemas on Tuesday March 5 in Hollywood. 16 year old Abigail wore a chic black ensemble that consisted of wide legged high waist black pants and a cropped jacket with a billowy blouse. It seems like yesterday she was dancing on screen in the hit film Little Miss Sunshine! The Academy Award nominated actress took photos with co-stars Morris Chestnut, David Otunga, and Michael Eklund, “The Call” is about a teenager who is kidnapped and put in the trunk of a car but is able to call 911. The dispatcher tries desperately to save her. The film opens nationwide on March 15.

I went to Aldo expecting to get a pair of Graziana wedge sneakers. I was told by the helpful staff they were all sold out in New York City. So I got Chism, the less spectacular white bottomed sneaker and had an idea to save myself 30$ by jazzing them up when I got home. I even remembered seeing a plastic spike bracelet for 1$ at a clothing store I was in earlier that afternoon. After carefully taping each sneaker, spraying them with flat black spray paint and gluing on the deconstructed bracelet I had a special pair of sneakers!
I attended the filming of the Rip the runway today in NYC. D from Swarey Designs and I arrived at in the rain at 9:00am with comfy Aldo sneakers and a heavy coat totally ignoring the suggested dress code. I thought I would still look cute but I knew what to expect at filmings. Long lines, long waiting and lots of shuffling around.We were in a holding room with excited young crowd dressed quite lovely in painful heels, long gowns, shorts (yes shorts in February) and spiked jackets. My friend and I thought the music was too loud but an impromptu dance contest got us in a better mood. 3 hours later we were herded to the main stage and scored front row spots. More waiting and waiting…..an audience modeling contest then waiting…. Oh a lesson in runway walking from Dexter Ivy runway coach and only 45 minutes late a model comes on stage! Yes! Rick Ross appears with Meek Mills and we are in a frenzy!!! Then….you got it more waiting, where is Kelly Rowland? We are blessed to meet this years host Kelly Rowland and Boris Kodjoe two beautiful celebs who were extremely nice. I could not get over Kelly Rowland and her divine looks and warm persona, one of my fav singers by the way. The show quickly moved on with an appearance by Jaden Smith who debuted his clothing line Msfts, a plethora of black clothing with splashes of leather and zippered accents. There was a wonderful showing of Kojoe’s suit collection Alfa and a plus size model showcase. My fav was the Haute couture collections opened by We the Urban creator Willie Greene. Over all I had a blast and fingers crossed I get to attend next years show! Tune in March 20th 10pm est on BET.
Though she did not win an Academy Award,Quvenzhané is the youngest Oscar nominee in history! The 9 year old Best actress nominee dazzled on the red carpet in a navy blue Armani gown. Her signature red carpet accessory, a puppy purse was dressed for the occasion in a light blue tutu and a sparkly tiara. The Poochie & Co. purse retails for around 10$ USD.
