Fashionistas, models, bloggers, photographers and industry insiders braved the bitter NYC weather on February 10th to attend Janelle Funari’s NYFW show and grand opening in Brooklyn. Set in the DUMBO neighborhood with beautiful views of the majestic Brooklyn Bridge and Williamsburg Bridge, guests and pups eagerly waited for doors to open. The show featured performance active wear for men, women, children and pets! This was my very first time attending a show that had adorable dogs work the runway. I was extremely excited to meet Harley the French Bulldog and Xolo the hairless dog! (We took a photo together!)
The collection was inspired by New York City. The show opened with a robust dance performance to one of my fave new song by City Girls, all dancers wore FUNARI clothing that was reflective and allowed the dancer to move with ease.
FUNARI items are functional and Eco-friendly. The best thing I’ve learned is that everything is made in Brooklyn! We were able to chat with designer Janelle,
” The collection was inspired by NYC with practically functional city essential styles that I feel we all need in our wardrobes! We don’t have time to go home to change to go to gym and we need specific pieces that have function and style. This includes the go to legging, work our Jacket, puffy jacket, and rain coat.
We are now offering mini me versions of the city essential line for both children and pups! “
The show ended with a speech from designer Janelle who brought out her adorable pup Maxine. She was also presented with a certificate from the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. The audience all received a glass of bubbly (or soda) and toasted to the grand opening, eagerly cheering as Janelle cut the red ribbon.
” She (Maxine) is my muse and a big part of my brand. All the pups who came out to support me were amazing and are her and my life long friends and our clients. We also had a famous Pomeranian on the runway too! Bentley!
